Some cars become transport. Others quietly become part of your life.

This Alfa Romeo GTV6 has been in long-term enthusiast ownership since 2008 and represents nearly two decades of continuous care, development and preservation. Originally delivered new in the Netherlands on 12 February 1981, this example is believed to be among the earliest Dutch-delivered GTV6 models and remains registered under its original Dutch registration number: GR-65-RK.

Chassis number ZAR116C00*00002481* is finished in Grigio Nube Metallizzato and underwent an extensive restoration and refurbishment programme, during which the body, interior and mechanical components were comprehensively addressed. The restoration included partial body repairs using donor sections, a full exterior repaint, overhaul and reconstruction of the sunroof assembly, restoration of the lightweight Campagnolo magnesium/aluminium wheels, renewed trim and glass installation, and extensive recommissioning of the mechanical systems. Suspension, brakes, cooling, drivetrain and electrical systems were also carefully sorted and improved.

Particularly striking is the tan leather interior, which gives the car a distinctly period-correct Italian grand touring atmosphere. Combined with the Grigio Nube Metallizzato exterior, the warm coloured cabin creates an unusually elegant specification rarely seen on surviving GTV6 examples today. Details such as a period-correct Philips radio, Hirschmann electric antenna and wooden steering wheel further enhance the authentic 1980s Alfa Romeo character.

The car is powered by a 3.0-litre Alfa Romeo Busso V6 engine originating from an Alfa 75 3.0 America (engine number AR06120*001329*), producing approximately 190 hp. Combined with the transaxle layout, De Dion rear suspension and limited-slip differential, the GTV6 remains one of the most charismatic driver’s cars Alfa Romeo ever produced. The unmistakable soundtrack of the Busso V6 is complemented by an ANSA sport exhaust and K&N intake filter.

During the past years the car continued to benefit from ongoing maintenance and refinement, including an extensive gearbox overhaul in 2024 using upgraded Alfa 75 3.0 internal components, combined with a rebuilt limited-slip differential and renewed clutch assembly. Particular attention was paid to improving the characteristic transaxle gearshift quality, resulting in a notably precise and mechanical shift action by GTV6 standards. Additional work included propshaft balancing, suspension and braking revisions, electrical repairs, cooling system work and countless smaller detail improvements throughout.

Importantly, this GTV6 has never been treated as a static collector object. It has been driven, maintained and improved with long-term ownership in mind. Extensive documentation and history records are present, alongside a carefully assembled collection of period accessories, manuals and supporting material.

Now, after almost twenty years of ownership, the time has come for this Alfa Romeo to move on to its next caretaker. Not because the passion disappeared, but because life evolved. As family circumstances changed and a new Alfa Romeo 75 restoration project began, opportunities to use the GTV6 as intended became increasingly rare.

This is an opportunity to acquire a deeply cherished and exceptionally well-known Alfa Romeo GTV6 with genuine long-term ownership history, extensive documented work and the unmistakable character only a Busso-powered transaxle Alfa can deliver.
