Magni – Moto Guzzi 1000 Bol d’or – a new build series
We are building something very special that brings together two pillars of Italian motorcycle history: Moto Guzzi and Magni. The project centers around a Moto Guzzi Le Mans–based engine, enlarged to 1000 cc, paired with a Magni Bol d’Or chassis and a carefully selected set of period-correct and custom cycle parts. The goal is not to recreate a factory model, but to build a machine that feels historically credible, mechanically honest, and true to the spirit of both brands.
Part 1: Concept, History and Initial Build
In the first episode, we introduce the project and explore the shared heritage of Moto Guzzi and Magni. We look at the origins of the transverse V-twin, Magni’s racing background, and how these two legacies intersect in this build. The video also shows the initial mock-up phase, where all major components are assembled for the first time to establish proportions, geometry, and overall direction.
Part 2: Chassis, Suspension and Assembly
The second episode marks the transition from concept to execution. The freshly painted Magni frame and swingarm return from the paint shop, along with the Ceriani front fork. Before final assembly, all components are carefully prepared: threads are cleaned, bearings are installed, and every interface is checked in detail.
We then begin assembling the rolling chassis, including the distinctive Magni parallelogrammo rear swingarm, a defining piece of Magni engineering. The Ceriani fork is also stripped, prepared, and set up, ensuring correct geometry and suspension behavior from the outset.
More to Come
This build is still very much in progress. With the chassis now taking shape, the next stages will focus on drivetrain installation, detailing, surface finishes, and final setup — culminating in a complete, road-ready machine.
More episodes will follow as the project continues. Stay tuned.
